Hello overthere,

For a few days now they are celebrate Diwali and also buy presents for everybody you love or respect. They decorate their homes and you can buy everywhere swings.  Saturday 17^th of October it’s the big evening of the firecrackers..

Diwali Festival
Diwali is certainly the biggest an the brightest of all Hindu festivals. It’s the festival of lights.

From Darkness Unto Light…
In each legend, myth and story of Dewali lies the significance of the victory of good over evil; and it is with each Dewali and the lights that illuminate our homes and hearts, that this simple truth finds new reason and hope. From darkness unto light — the light that empowers us to commit ourselves to good deeds, that which brings us closer to divinity. During Diwali, lights illuminate every corner of India and the scent of incense sticks hangs in the air, mingled with the sounds of fire-crackers, joy, togetherness and hope.

The festival is dedicated to the worship of Mother Kali, the dark goddess of strength. Lord Ganesha*, the elephant-headed God, the symbol of auspiciousness and wisdom, is also worshipped in most Hindu homes on this day.

*Ganesha —The Lord of Success
The son of Shiva and Parvati, Ganesha has an elephantine countenance with a curved trunk and big ears, and a huge pot-bellied body of a human being. He is the Lord of success and destroyer of evils and obstacles. He is also worshipped as the god of education, knowledge, wisdom and wealth. In fact, Ganesha is one of the five prime Hindu deities (Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and Durga being the other four).
